Michael Jackson – Off The Wall

Michael Joseph Jackson  (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer-songwriter, dancer, businessman and philanthropist. Often referred to by the honorific nickname „King of Pop“, or by his initials MJ,Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. His contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades.

„Off the Wall“ is the third single released from singer Michael Jackson’s album of the same name. Released on February 2, 1980, the Rod Temperton-composed number became Jackson’s third top 10 single from Off the Wall, which eventually spawned four top 10 singles; Jackson was the first person to accomplish this. The song is about getting over troubles: „leave that nine-to-five upon the shelf / and just enjoy yourself“. The song peaked at number ten on the Pop Singles Chart and at number five on the Billboard Soul Singles Chart.

Michael Jackson performed the song on the Jacksons‘ Destiny Tour’s second leg, as well as the Triumph Tour, Victory Tour. He performed the song on his first solo tour the Bad World Tour. He also performed it during the HIStory World Tour, but only a part of the Off the Wall medley on certain concerts.

Louis Johnson (born April 13, 1955) is an American bass guitarist.
Johnson is best known for his group The Brothers Johnson and his session playing on several hit albums of the 1970s and 1980s including the „best selling album of all time“ Thriller. His signature sound is from the Music Man StingRay bass which Leo Fender especially made for him to first use and promote, and from his slapping technique.
